For 32 years I worked in the coporate world at BellSouth.  Most of that time was spent in the Public Relations Department where I was very involved with community service work, served  President of the Telephone Pioneer Chapter (17,000 members), did a lot of event planning, program coordination, put together slide shows, and always went with camera "in- hand".  I photographed more company events than I canbegin to count.  My photos were used in newlsetters, brochures, on walls, and in slide shows for large and small audiences.  The older I got the stronger my passion grew for photography.

When most people feared retirement, I embraced it for it was a time to really explore my passion.  I would finally have the freedom to go out at dawn, and not worry about being back  to the office.  I started a small freelance photography business in Atlanta.  I worked with some pre-schools in the area and a high school.  I photographed several weddings and portraits and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I was one of the first to use digital equipment professionally.  When I bought my first serious camera, it was a Fuji S1Pro, one of the first digital SLR's under $20,000.  That was eight years ago.  I now use a Fuji S2Pro, and a Nikon D200.

Two years ago, I moved to Ft. Myers, mostly to be closer to my family.  My mother is a long time resident of Lehigh Acres, and one of my daughters and her family are located nearby.

I do a lot of volunteer work for the Edison & Ford Winter Estates here in Ft. Myers, and enjoy working with the people there.  My work is on display there and available for purchase in their Gift Shop.  My work aso may be viewed and purchased at Pirate's Ketch in Punta Gorda.

I belong to 5 Camera or Photography clubs.  I am a member of NANPA  (North American Nature Photographer's, Assoc.
www.nanpa.org ), the Fort Myers Camera Club, the Fort Myers Beach Camera Club, the Florida Professional Photographers (www.fpponline.org )and the Southwest Florida Professional Photographer's Club.( www.ppswf.com ).  I have spent a lot of time (and money) going to seminars taught by the best in the country.  Nature lover's will be familiar with John Shaw, Art Wolfe, Connie Toops and Art Morris.  They are my mentors.  I have also taken courses on wedding photography with Doug Gordon and Gary Fong and have many more classes lined up down the road.  I am continuously seeking new ideas, and in general trying to stay ahead of the curve.  The technology and the equipment evolve so quickly that it is like keeping the latest computer changes in hand.

Here are a few of my personal favorite images.  This summer, along with one of my dearest friends, I took a trip to Utah to visit Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks (got the Grand Canyon in as well).  My goal in life is to visit all of the National Parks.  I have a pretty good start.

My images can be purchased at the Edison Ford Winter Estates Gift Shop in Ft. Myers, and at Pirate's Ketch in Punta Gorda.  And of course, you can always order on line by contacting me at murray770@aol.com  My prints have recently been on exhibit at the Sanibel Library and at the Arts League in Fort Myers Beach.
